Curriculum Vitae

Luis Alvarez has teaching and research interests in comparative race and ethnicity, popular culture, Chicana/o studies, Latina/o studies, African American studies, U.S.-Mexico borderlands, transnationalism, resistance, identity and community formation, cultural theory. His book, The Power of the Zoot: Identity and Resistance in US Youth Culture during World War II, will be published by the University of California Press.
